Agnieszka Radwańska had two bad seasons in a row. She ended this year’s season already in September. She is constantly struggling with inoperable foot injury and permanent fatigue. As she admits – the coming weeks will show when and if I’m going to be able to return to the tennis court at all.

In a Polish camp things are not going well from a long time. The last 2 seasons were full of lost maches for Radwańska. The Polish tennis player was usually losing in the early stages of the tournaments or did not appear in the tournament at all. She was struggling with injuries all the time. She did not feel good physically or mentally. Probably every athlete would be in such a mess, if his body did not react properly to any of the rehabilitation.

In a recent interview for the Polish Radio, her husband and the second tennis coach talked about the situation in the Radwańska camp:

RECENTLY, IT WAS MORE ABOUT FIGHTING WITH YOURSELF THAN WITH THE RIVALS. THERE WAS NO TRAINING, PREPARING FOR THE MATCHES, ONLY GOING TO THE STATE OF “USEFULNESS” TO SUCH STATE SO THAT YOU CAN PLAY. IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE.

The tennis player described her current situation in a similar way. Radwańska admitted that she couldn’t imagine playing like that. For her it’s either about playing at her best level or not playing at all. Together with her husband, She agrees that she is already at a point in her career, when playing it’s not only about qualifying for the tournament, but about best results. The tennis player wants to be remembered for her very good results, not for the fatigue on the court and senselessly prolonging her career just to play a little more.

The tennis player’s husband openly admitted that they are considering all possible options. Of course, the final decision belongs to Radwanska herself, but she also realizes the seriousness of the situation. The tennis player is well aware that her foot problems will never go away. During the last interview for the Interia portal, she admitted that it is a mechanical injury, which unfortunately can not be fixed and will get worse with every extreme effort, tranning or a match.

IT DOESN’T MATTER IF I WEAR HIGH HEELS OR SPORTS SHOES, IT HURTS JUST THE SAME. SIMPLY PUT, MY LEFT FOOT IS SO CRUSHED FROM RUNNING THAT THERE’S NOTHING THAT’S WORKING CORECTLY. ALL IS SWELLING AND THERE IS INFLAMMATION. I CAN WAKE UP EVEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WITH CRAMPS. NOTHING IS HELPING – NOT INJECTION FROM THE CORTISOL OR PLASMA. IT’S ANNOYING! YOU’RE TRYING EVERYTHING, BEST DOCTORS ARE AROUND YOU AND YOU GET BEST TREATMENTS, BUT THE BODY SAYS “STOP”

Polish tennis player admits that she talks about her future with her training staff for several months. She announced that more specific decisions on her the career can be expected in November.

Let us remind you that Agnieszka Radwańska is the first Polish tennis player who earned over 1 million US dollars on the court. Throughout her career, she earned 27 683 807 $, which places her sixth in the all-time standings. You can see the full list of tennis players’ earnings here —> link.

Radwańska has played in the final of the women’s single in Wimbledon (Wimbledon 2012) and won together with Jerzy Janowicz in the Hopman Cup in 2015. Radwańska is also the second person from Poland in the open era (after Wojciech Fibak in 1977), who reached the top ten in the ranking – she was ranked on the second place.
