Ben Shelton is a 21-year-old American tennis player. He is the son of former tennis player Bryan Shelton. In 2023, Ben Shelton began to achieve outstanding results, reaching the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, the semifinals of the US Open, and now winning the ATP Tokyo.

Shelton momentarily turned the eyes of experts tracking the race of the best to advance to the ATP Finals and made them look at him. Although Shelton has no chance of advancing to the ATP Finals, he has been attracting attention since September. First, thanks to his great performance in the September US Open, where he reached the semi-finals. Now they talk about him because of his triumph in ATP Tokyo.

Several tennis players competing for the ATP Finals took part in Tokyo. Each of them was unexpectedly eliminated early in the tournament, including Hubert Hurkacz. But Ben Shelton did his thing. He played excellent tennis. He was not afraid of the challenge of defeating fifth seeded Tommy Paul in the ATP Tokyo quarterfinals. In the final, he defeated Aslan Karatsev without any major problems and won the ATP Tokyo Cup. Shelton won against Karatsev by a score of 7-5, 6-1.

Shelton’s excellent form means that the American is rapidly climbing the ranks. In August, Shelton was in 80th place. Today he is in 14th position in the ATP rankings.
