Simone Biles won her eighth United States Gymnastics Championship. Thus, she became the first person in the history of the discipline to do so. All this despite being absent for two years.

It’s impressive! Despite a two-year absence, Simone Biles just became the first person in gymnastics history to win eight United States Championships.

Simone Biles made history on Sunday by breaking several records at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in San José, California, winning her eighth U.S. all-around title and becoming the oldest gymnast to win the title since its inception in 1963. Before Biles broke the record, it was held by Linda Mulvihill, who won the title in 1971 at the age of 24 years and 3 months. The last time Biles won the title was in 2021, she was 24 years and 2 months old.

In 2022, Biles did not compete and the honor went to 17-year-old Konnor McClain.
