FIS presented the preliminary calendar of the Summer Grand Prix in ski jumping for next season. The most important change is the postponement of the finale of this part of the season from the beginning of October to the beginning of November. In addition, it will be held in a hybrid formula – on an ice run-up and a plastic landing zone.
There are many indications that this is preparation for a smooth transition to a situation in which the last Summer Grand Prix competition will be the first period of the World Cup. The hybrid formula of the competition was successfully tested in early November 2022 in Wisla. This was how the World Cup competitions were inaugurated. Then there was a three-week break and the jumpers continued the competition. The last season lasted a very long time, as much as half a year, and not everyone could endure it physically.
What do you think about the proposed changes?
