In July 2013 6-year contract with David Moyes has been signed at Old Trafford. He changed the club from Everton to Manchester United. The club management agreed with Sir Alex Ferguson, that Scot should be his successor, because he has done a fantastic work at Goodison Park. Moyes was associated with long-term plan and completing a squad with a low budget, so it was believed, that he will continue Ferguson’s work.

The reality turned out dramatic. The aging squad, even though it was left with Premier League glory, couldn’t compete with other big teams. Clubs from the second half of the table, like Newcastle or West Bromwich, won their first game at Old Trafford for years, and Swansea achieved their first win at ‘Theatre of Dreams’ in history. Moyes didn’t last at the position until the end of the season, he was fired in April, while Ryan Giggs finished the campaign as a caretaker manager.

In May Manchester United appointed Louis Van Gaal as a new coach. He tried to persuade his proteges to his characteristic style of play, based on ball possession and passing. Players really tried to stick to the advices, but we didn’t see a lot of chances created. After winning only FA Cup after two years at Old Trafford he was dismissed and replaced by Jose Mourinho.

Probably everybody knows Portuguese’ style of play. It looks like though, his methods are too old-fashioned and Manchester United after two years with trophies like Community Shield, League Cup and Europa League in the third season reached a new low. He was in conflict with the team, which has been achieving average results, so the club decided to part company with him. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer returned to Old Trafford, this time as a caretaker manager and he has been working splendidly for the long-term contract, which he signed this month. Manchester United with Norwegian had a terrific start – no team has collected more points than ‘The Red Devils’ in this time.

The end of David Moyes’ contract would come on July 2019. In this time United had a few managers, who rather disappointed than replaced Ferguson. It’s hard to restore the greatness to Old Trafford, but the club is one of the biggest in the world and is able to come back to the top.
