In Formula One drivers receive points for finish a race in places 1 to 10, but there are plans to modify the rules. The idea is to give one point for the fastest lap during Grand Prix.

The similar rule obliged since the first season in history, in 1950, until 1959. Now there is one condition though – driver has to finish at least at 10th place. Any other participant wouldn’t receive a point.

The idea has to approved by F1 Comission. FIA and F1 Strategic Group has already agreed. Meanwhile the idea to give a point for starting a race at pole position has been turned down.
