The Champions League king

124 goals. This statistic when it comes to one player only in Champions League, sounds remarkable. Cristiano Ronaldo is the player, who will be remembered by generations to come. The legend, who especially loves the most valuable European club trophy.

Juventus was in danger of being eliminated in only Round of 16 by Atletico Madrid, but this is the kind of situation, that Cristiano Ronaldo is perfect for. Even though he scored only once and provided two assists in Europe this season, he managed to score a hattrick in the crucial game, that led to advance do quarter final.

This way he became the only player with 50 goals or more, who netted more in knockout rounds than in group stage, 63 to 61. He provided 13 assists as well, what makes involvement in 77 goals in 77 knockout stage games. It is obvious that he proves himself in the big games, when he feels very confident on the pitch.

Atletico can be especially disappointed with Ronaldo’s genius. Every single journey in Champions League under Diego Simeone has been interrupted by the team including Portuguese. Four times it was Real Madrid, the fifth time happened with Juventus.

Five-time Champions League winner still has a hunger for another European trophy. By winning the sixth cup he will level the record held by Paco Gento, who won the first five editions and again in 1966.

It seems like Ronaldo is the key for Juventus success in Champions League. The last time ‘Bianconeri’ won the trophy was in 1996, since then they have lost five finals.
