Manager Eric Ten Hag created a wonderful team in Amsterdam in his only second and the first full season of work. In Eredivisie Ajax players broke through the first position over PSV, thanks to a better goal stats. In 30 matches they scored 106 goals, crushing their rivals even 8:0, like against Graafschap.

Ajax plays go-ahead, very offensive football, which is hard to stop. The biggest teams can fear playing like this, what proves Dutch’ performances in Champions League. After going through eliminations and beating Sturm Graz, Standard Liege and Dinamo Kiev at the end, Ajax faced Bayern Munich, Benfica and AEK in the group stage.

Ten Hag’s proteges haven’t even lose a game, drawing twice with Bayern, once with Benfica and winning the other matches. In Round of 16 they faced Real Madrid though and lost 1:2 in Amsterdam after Asensio’s goal in the last minutes. At Santiago Bernabeu we were witnesses of a miracle. In 18th minute it was already 0:2 after two assists by Dusan Tadic, then Serbian scored his goal at 0:3. Asensio ignited a hope with his goal, but then Schone finished the opponents off.

In quarterfinal the team had to face another tough rival. In Amsterdam they finished the game with the better result than against Real – this time they drew 1:1. At Allianz Stadium it would be a definitely harder challenge though. Juventus is in the fantastic form and has a missing element to win Champions League – Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ajax has a golden generation in their squad. Youngsters, often under 20 years old, like De Ligt, are already great, experienced players, but also older footballers play splendidly. Among them is undoubtedly best offensive player – Dusan Tadic. After leaving Southampton last summer, he scored 22 goals in the league and provided 11 assists. In the Champions League only Messi and Lewandowski is above him in the goalscorers table. Unfortunately, these are the last chances to see this great team, because in the summer gigantic there will be a queue of willing clubs to buy Ajax stars.
